Obituary

Martha Brom passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the age of 93 years at the Regency Nursing Center in Schulenburg, Texas.  Martha was born in Shiner on April 16, 1929 to the late Albert and Filomena (Janik) Kubecka.  She married Daniel Brom on September 6,1949 in Shiner. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, VFW, American Legion Auxiliary and KJZT.  Daniel and Martha lived on the farm from 1949 to 2005 until upon the completion of their new home in the Moulton city limits.  During their life on the farm, they raised several kinds of animals (cows, pigs, chickens, guineas and parakeets), in addition to the numerous farm crops and large vegetable garden.

Martha is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Mike) Hudson of Schulenburg (Swiss Alp area), Barbara (Sidney) Jasek of Hallettsville; two sons, Donald (Shirley) Brom of Houston, and Robert (Mary) Brom of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Brom, Suzanne (Brandon) Williford, Laura (Nick) Whitefield, John (Kelli) Hudson, Dwayne Hudson, Dale (Brittany) Jasek, Kelly (Steve) Desautels, and Travis (Kristin) Jasek ;  three step grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and one step great great-grandchild.   She was preceded in death by her husband (Daniel); parents, sister (Annie Siegel) of Gonzales and brother (Albert Kubecka) of Cuero.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, March 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton.  Rosary will be held on Friday, March 31, beginning at 9:30 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton with Father Gabriel Maison officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.  

Pallbearers will be her grandsons:  Christopher Brom, John and Dwayne Hudson, Dale and Travis Jasek and great-grandson Kyle Williford.   Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made out to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton or Hospice of South Texas.
