Thomas J Lala of Moulton passed away Monday, October 21, 2002 at the age of 52 years, 6 months, and 28 days. Rosary was recited at 6 PM Tuesday, October 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and funeral service were 2 PM Wednesday, October 23 at the church, with Rev. Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial was at Praha Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Moulton.

He was born March 23,1950, in Moulton, to the late Joe A. and Rose Mary Migl Lala. In his High School Days, Thomas wrote The Praha Happenings for the Tribune and Moulton paper. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He then worked several years at the Nacona Boot Factory and for a local insurance agent, before going on to become a successful businessman by starting his own Insurance and Real Estate Agency. Thomas was a very active member of his community and surrounding towns. Every chance he got he was volunteering his time to his community: coaching, umpiring, and auctioneering at picnics. If Thomas was not working you could find him teeing off at the golf course or fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton. He was vice-president of Moulton Jr Livestock Association and a member of the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and a Chairman of the Board for Hochheim Prairie Insurance. Thomas was a loving and wonderful husband and father; who was a very lively, out going and fun loving guy. Thomas stated many times that his goal in life was to meet as many people as possible.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Matus Lala; two sons, Chad and Everett Lala, both of Houston; and sister, Theresa Tousek of Moulton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sept. 10, 1989; and his father, Jan 2, 1970. Pallbearers were Daniel Bohuslav, Dennis Ellinghausen, Frank Jiral, Alvin Kocian, Bob Olle, Kenny Filipp, Darrin Tousek and Dennis Tousek. Honorary pallbearers were Taylor Biehunko, Willie Perez and Jared Tousek.
